The Big Secret

THE BIG SECRET: A Survival Guide for the New Millennium is the latest work by five-time Emmy Award-winning producer and director, Alex Voss,
and, multi award winning film maker and integrative physician, Susan Downs. This groundbreaking documentary film explores the truth behind some of today’s most widely-accepted medical practices, and seeks to expose how the focus on corporate profits influences traditional medical treatment in the United States.

The Life You Save May Be Your Own
In THE BIG SECRET: A Survival Guide for the New Millennium, Voss and Downs explore the history of modern medical practice and the role that Big Pharma plays in manipulating medical treatment to increase corporate profits at the expense of individual care. They also shed light on modern farming techniques that deplete the food we eat of its nutritional content. The United States is the wealthiest country in the world and spends more on healthcare than any other country, yet millions of unsuspecting people are dying of preventable diseases each year.

Dr. Peter Glidden and Miguel Castillo at the Premiere of The Big Secret

Being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) was the trigger for Miguel Castillo to rethink his life, to question what he wants and how he treats himself. He thinks your body never lies to you, it tries to communicate with you, Maybe we should listen better, maybe we should educate ourselves on how to be healthy and maybe we needs moments of stillness to reflect. What would you do if live gave you a second chance?
Dr. Peter Glidden
Looking back, it is unclear to me why I chose the medical field as a profession. It was more of a "felt sense" than anything else – it just felt like the right thing to do, and it was definetly time to do something. My experience with yoga and meditation had by default put me in touch with the alternative health culture in the US, and I had found myself over the years in the company of many different people who referred to themselves as “healers.” Interestingly, 100% of them lacked any substantial grounding in the scientific method, and when push came to shove, they would all fall back on conventional medical methods. There were only two wholistic medical practitioners that I had any respect or admiration for whatsoever – an osteopathic doctor and a chiropractor.

For over three decades, her research interests have always been at the intersection of biology and computation: developing a computational model for the human auditory system, understanding human language so as to develop algorithms and systems for human computer interactions, as well as applying natural language processing (NLP) techniques to gene predictions. She has published over 170 refereed articles on these subjects, and has been invited to give keynote speeches at several international conferences.
In recent years, Dr. Seneff has focused her research interests back towards biology. She is concentrating mainly on the relationship between nutrition and health.

Kelly Brogan, M.D., A.B.I.H.M, A.B.P.N
I know, not just because of my medical training, but also because I’ve been where you are.
On a beautiful day in NYC I got some bad news. The reason for my brain fog, why I’d repeatedly lost my keys, was literally losing my hair, and going through an excessive amount of cocoa butter lotion, along with other symptoms: postpartum thyroiditis, or Hashimoto’s disease.
Despite many years earning my medical credentials, I was not ready for a life dependent on pharmaceuticals. So, I searched for an alternative – and I found the gentle, hopeful world of natural self-repair.
